The event finder

Once you decide on your Compost Awareness Week activity, remember to complete the Event Finder.

This is a simple form, taking only a minute to complete and the information supplied feeds into an event finder database on the home composting pages of the Recycle Now website. It's easy for the public too - they just have to enter their postcode into the event finder to find out what's happening in their local area.

So don't miss this opportunity... let the public know about your event!

Liverpool Compost Bag

Compost Bags for residents...

Across the country its quite usual to see compost giveaway events in parks where local residents can come and help themselves to free compost. However, in a bid to reach as many people as possible, Liverpool Council has come up with the idea of providing branded compost bags that can be taken to any promotional event.

The compost is made from the green waste collected by the authority and then composted at a local facility. Developed in partnership with their composting contractor, the bags feature the Recycle Now branding. Collette Salmon of Liverpool City Council said: "The compost bags are proving to be very popular with our residents. We have been distributing them to resident associations for their Neighbourhood in Bloom displays and to local schools who are creating their own gardens to grow fruit, vegetables and plants".

What a 'blooming' good idea!

Home Composting Workshop

Home Composting Workshops are a great success

The run up to Spring has been a busy time for WRAP's home composting advisors. Up and down the country, a series of workshops were run during February to promote composting.

The workshops, run in conjunction with the Women's Institute, were aimed at promoting composting and a general awareness of how waste can be disposed of. Advice was given on the items that can be composted, the types of units available and how they can suit every household. The events were a huge success and enjoyed by all.

If you are interested in holding a home composting event in your area and would like to let us know please email us on advisor@wrap.org.uk
