Planning for PPA
The PPA (Periodical Publishers Association) Board encourages members and the wider magazine sector to use the Recycle Now recycling icon promoted by WRAP.
Recycle Now is the new national campaign that aims to encourage everyone to recycle more things, like magazines, more often.
A specially adapted icon for PPA Members to use within their magazines has been developed and is free to use with immediate effect.
Iconography that is specifically adapted for PPA members, together with four treatments of the Print advertising for immediate use in your publications, can be accessed from the Download Area page. The logos and iconography are free and you will be able to download and start using them immediately.
If you would like to download the general Recycle Now campaign iconography, that can be found in the industry Download Area.
About the Recycle Now Campaign
The Recycle Now campaign messages have been carefully developed and extensively tested with powerful and inspiring imagery, delivered in friendly, inclusive tones, aimed at capturing the imagination of a broad section of the public, raising consumer awareness and interest in recycling issues, and encouraging them to act.
The Recycle Now Partners website is primarily aimed at local authorities who are supporting the campaign at a local level, but we hope PPA Members will also find it a valuable source of background information.
About the Recycle Now Icon
Our aim is for the new recycling icon to become the recognised symbol for recycling and to motivate people into action. The curved arrow represents the action and sustainability of recycling. The heart signifies the feel-good nature of the recycling activity.
Why Promote the Campaign?
In order for England to achieve its challenging recycling targets, we need a distinct style of campaign - one that creates compelling reasons for consumers to act. Awareness of recycling is not enough - it needs to be turned into action. Creating actions is the primary focus of the new campaign.
The public's awareness of paper recycling is high, however, many still do not recycle their old magazines. Placing the icon in your publication is a simple way to remind your readers they can recycle it.
Taking an active role in promoting recycling supports the voluntary Producer Responsibility Agreement being discussed with DEFRA.
